The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. When a mysterious young woman named Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Despite her reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family.

But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo’s empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards . . . and that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven. Happy New Year Everyone!

It’s time for my resolutions post for the year, these won’t just be bookish either.

2015 was an amazing year for me. I moved to a new city, started my dream job, and moved house twice, once into a house share with strangers, and now into my own flat. It has been a massive year for me personally, and developmentally. I’ve started to find out how much I can handle, and how much I rely on my friends and family despite living in a different city. not so much for books and reading.

In 2015, I read a total of thirty three books- a total I am not entirely unhappy with. It’s a massive drop from 2014’s 100+, but it is necessary. I had to cut back forcing myself to read to make sure I still enjoy it when I do get to.
